The correct spec varies by engine variant and model year. Using oil without the right Land Rover approval can affect engine protection in ways that are not always immediately apparent. Land Rover uses a Service Indicator system that monitors your actual driving conditions and calculates oil service intervals based on real usage. Most Land Rover models have extended intervals of 16,000 to 21,000 miles under normal conditions. Vehicles used for towing, off-road excursions, or frequent cold starts reach the interval sooner. Always follow the Service Indicator in your InControl display, not a generic mileage rule.
Range Rover Sport P400e, Defender P400e, and Discovery Sport PHEV models follow the same oil service schedule as petrol variants with a few additions: 12V auxiliary battery inspection and high-voltage battery cooling circuit check.
